Day 7: 10 Day Detox Diet

See Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, and why I’m doing this.

I woke up and my skin (face specifically) is still freaking out. I headed to google and read that it’s not uncommon to have a horrible breakout during a detox because the toxins are being released.  It can get better anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.  I’m really hoping I’m on the short end of this spectrum.

Anyways, I woke up early, downed my supplements and pgx, then headed to a class at the Pilates Garage. Although it was a great toning workout, I do kind of miss the cardio I was getting in first thing in the morning last week.  I wear a fitbit, and it was always nice to get to work and already be at 5,000 steps.  I’ll just have to make up for it throughout the day!

I drank my smoothie around 8:30 and was hungry for lunch by 11:30.  I had a salad with arugula, zucchini, mushrooms, bell pepper, avocado, and tofu.  I sauteed the tofu in olive oil, salt, and cayenne pepper for some extra heat.  Then I drizzled some extra olive oil over the entire salad.  Tasty! But sadly I was still hungry.

I snacked on some cashews shortly after lunch.  Not sure why, but the cravings are back with a vengeance today! I thought about quitting several times, but I’m doing my best to stick it out! I went on a 30ish minute walk with coworkers this afternoon, then snacked on some almonds at 3:30.  This luckily held me over until my 5:30 class at Barry’s Bootcamp.

The class was “arms and abs” theme and definitely was a tough workout! For each workout, you alternate between the floor and the treadmill and do each three times. The second treadmill set involved 8 minutes of “try and get a mile in”. It’s unusual for them to have a not totally structured set, but since it’s the first of February, the goal was to check in on how much time it takes to do a mile. Although I’ve run a lot, I haven’t done a mile time trial since middle school. I’m used to short sprint bursts or several mile runs, so I had no clue what I could do. I started conservatively at 7.1 mph then bumped my speed up consistently until I was at 9 mph. I finished in 7:52, just under 8! I think I could’ve gone a bit faster, but I’m happy I started out conservatively.

I came home, showered, had my supplements and pgx, then cooked dinner. This was wasn’t my fave. Baked chicken with a rosemary, lemon zest, olive oil, salt and pepper glaze along with baked zucchini, tomatoes, and onions. The veggies were baked with salt and pepper and then topped with basil and avocado at the end.

Looked pretty, but a little onion heavy and the chicken wasn’t as tasty as some of my more recent creations.

I headed over to a friend’s place to watch the bachelor, came home and journaled, then lights out!

On to day 8!

Have you done a mile time trial lately? How’d it go?
